This being my first post, I'm just going to give an overview of why I find music so darn interesting. It started awhile back, when being "scene/emo/skater" was still uncool, and it was frowned upon for being part of the outcasts. To be honest, I think the whole thing started when I listened to Green Day's "American Idiot" album in late 2004. It was cool, and I didn't know why. It wasn't an overnight change, it took about six years to be honest.
I didn't hang out with the "in" crowd. I didn;t do what everyone else thought was cool, so I wasn't influenced by them and was free to enjoy what came my way. Then I hit sophomore year and met my ex. He was my best friend, and introduced me to (old) Escape The Fate, Falling In Reverse, (old & better) Black Veil Brides, Bring Me The Horizon, and countless others. I fell in love...with the music, of course. I couldn't tell you how many times I watched Ronnie work his magic in the "Situations" music video. I mean, that man IS magic...
I became really big with band t-shirts and skinny jeans. I wasn't a stereotype, by any means, but you could see a difference. Soon, I found myself on YouTube all the time trying to find new bands (can anyone else relate?) just because it was fascinating. Hearing how one voice went so well with an electric guitar, while another launched a grand acoustic career.
Anyway, I can't pinpoint one form of music that I love...or that I consider an entire genre as an obsession. My musical phases come and go, but I can appreciate (almost) every band for their uniquenesses and flaws. Now, just because I can, I'm going to go ahead and watch some more of Ronnie before bed :)
